PLEASE ALSO NOTE IF YOU HAVE A CABIN STYLE PREFERENCE & WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE THE REQUEST. CABINS WILL BE ASSIGNED WHEN A TICKET HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL.

COST FOR SLOOMB CAMP: $325 USD PER PERSON AGE 10+, CHILDREN 0-9 ARE FREE. INCLUDES ACCOMMODATIONS FOR 3 NIGHTS/4 DAYS, 9 MEALS, ALL ACTIVITIES. RESERVATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU WILL BE ATTENDING CAMP PRIOR TO MAKING YOUR RESERVATION.
DEPOSIT/PAYMENT PLANS: YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO PAY IN FULL WHEN PLACING YOUR RESERVATION OR TO PAY IN 4 EQUAL PAYMENTS. IF CHOOSING THE PAYMENT PLAN FEATURE, INVOICES WILL BE SENT OUT ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: 2/28, 4/10, 5/15.
TRANSPORTATION: YOU WILL NEED TO FIND YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO CAMP. BUS RENTAL IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR OUR GROUP.
GETTING THERE: CAMP IS APPROXIMATELY 2.5 HOURS AWAY FROM PEARSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN TORONTO. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE A GREYHOUND INTO THE PARRY SOUND AREA FROM THE CITY, HOWEVER I AM TOLD THIS WAY IS A VERY LONG ROUTE WITH MANY STOPS AND IT DOES NOT DEPART FROM THE AIRPORT. THE CLOSEST TRAIN STATION IS PARRY SOUND (Amtrak and Via stop there). THIS IS STILL APPROX 25 MINS FROM CAMP.
We will have camp shirts and 2019 camp badges available for purchase separately via sloomb.com prior to the event so that you can choose what you need, how many, and in what size.
You can bring an RV into Sloomb Camp, however there are no hook ups. We can make space in the camp fields for you and create an RV area for those of you hoping to stay in your own RV. Again, there are no hook-ups, but we will have cabins set aside for showers and bathrooms so that you will be able to use those facilities.
You can also park your RV in the lots if you are driving in and want to stay in cabins.
There may be local campgrounds to camp in, that would be something you can look into on your own.
If you choose to stay in another location, you can come and go, however the entrance fee per person 10 years and up will still be applied.
If you prefer to bring a tent for your family, we will be happy to section off an area for those. We will have cabins set aside for showers and bathrooms so that you will be able to use those facilities. If you have a group that would like to tent together, we can create communities for you.
All cabins have a private wash room for toilet, bath/shower. Some cabins have either a bath or a shower.
You can arrive late and/or leave early. Entrance fee is the same.
There is a facility there - it's not fancy but does the job. If you absolutely have to wash clothing, there is a space for that. That said, please plan to bring your clothing to camp, including diapering items, etc. We understand there may be an exception and you may need to do laundry, but this is just for emergencies rather than something you should plan on.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LEAVE THE CABINS CLEAN - YOU WILL BE CHARGED $100 FOR YOUR CABIN IF IT IS NOT LEFT IN AN ACCEPTABLE STATE ESTABLISHED BY THE CAMP (THIS IS THE FEE WE ARE CHARGED BY CAMP MANITOU AND BY THEIR OWN STAFF PER CABIN). PLEASE REMOVE ALL GARBAGE FROM CABINS WHEN YOU LEAVE.
We will assign cabins when your reservation has been paid in full. If you have a group of people that would all like to stay in the same cabin, we will plan to put you together if possible. Large cabins have enough space for 12 bunks (6 top and 6 bottom bunks). Until the cabins fill, we will plan on putting families all in separate cabins. We will not plan for any top bunks in shared cabins to be used, however if you have a group of more than 6 people who don't mind using the top bunk, you are welcome to do so. Last year bunks were moved around within some of the cabins, please make sure they are back in place prior to leaving the facility.
You are welcome to bring these, however there are none on site. There is room in cabins for them next to beds.
TYPES OF CABINS
There are a few different types of cabins. We will assign them on a first come first serve basis, only when your reservation has been paid in full. Please note in comments your top 2 choices and we will do our best to put you where you'd like to be.
Group Cabins - bunks accommodate 6 people (12 beds if using top bunk), full washroom and shower, many with lake views. Not climate controlled but it shouldn't be too hot or cold this time of year. Most families will be in group cabins. There are many items that can make cabins feel a bit cozier or private. Plan on bringing an extra sheet to cover the bathroom window, for example, with a few binder clips.
2-Bedroom Private cabins - these vary slightly in terms of a shower/bath, living room space, some are heated, few have a kitchenette. Limited.
1-Bedroom Private cabins - these vary slightly in terms of a shower/bath, living room space, some are heated, few have a kitchenette, very limited.
3-Bedroom Private cabins -bathtub, living room space, kitchenette, extremely limited.
Shared Cabins - full washroom between two bedrooms, shower (Basically Jack and Jill Style - private 1- bedroom cabins on each side without a living room space, shared bathroom either for your larger family or two separate families if we start filling up).
Please plan on bringing bedding. Group cabins are all single beds and private cabins have beds up to Queen size. If you have been assigned a private cabin please plan on queen sheets for each bed however that does not mean all of the beds in the cabin are queen size. This is just the safest choice because it will fit over all of the mattresses. Pillows are not provided.

The menu will be geared towards toddler heavy foods, while also being satisfying for adults. The food is great and if you have a birthday to celebrate please let us know in advance - the chef loved making a special birthday cookie last year!
Camp Manitou has a special diet chef. She is great and is prepared to work with you so that your family can have a wonderful time and enjoy your meals. Our director assured me that she should be able to accommodate everyone, however she may need to contact some of you directly if you have more specific needs. If you have allergies, etc, please let us know when you sign up so that we can get in touch with you as needed. We will of course keep all your information private. If you do need a kitchen to prepare special meals, there are a few cabins with kitchenettes. Everyone had tons of options for food last year so please do not stress over food planning. We just need to know your dietary restrictions in advance to prepare and everything should work out very well. These are nice people and they want to make sure campers are enjoying their time. Please do plan on bringing snacks and food for the ride to and from camp. Last year we had a late lunch around 1pm on Friday afternoon after check-in. Sunday morning breakfast is the last meal.
Please feel free to bring whatever in-between meal snacks you may need. I don't think anyone was hungry between meals last year, but with so many little ones, bringing along their usual comfort snacks. etc are always a nice idea. There are plenty of stores on the way in - we stopped at Whole Foods in Toronto and there are local stores in Parry Sound.
You can bring your own alcohol to camp but it must stay in your cabin or on your deck. Beer bottles are the only exception to this because of broken glass and bottle caps and are not permitted. You can bring wine, kegs, etc just no beer bottles.
Sloomb will (HOPEFULLY) be ordering Rideau Roastery coffee for our event from Malina - hopefully she can make up enough for us!!
UNSUPERVISED ACTIVITIES (ALWAYS AVAILABLE): Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volley ball (2 courts), Shuffle Board, Tennis (4 courts), Soccer
Please just remember to put your equipment away when you have finished up. There are rules involved with using some of the equipment, such as helmets and protective gear when playing hockey, we will give you all of this information when you arrive at camp.
Yoga, Barre, Group Run (can be planned in advance), Crafts (craft to be determined - Knitting/crochet, friendship bracelets, workshops, etc), Climbing wall/adventure park, ropes course, archery, a water play area for the little ones may again be set up if possible.
There is no age limit for these events.
The climbing wall is the only area with a height limitation - you must be 42" tall to climb, however the staff was wonderful last year and helped young campers feel included.
We will have campfires in the evenings and s'mores.
There are no horses this time of year.
We will have a supervised Sloomb BST on a weekend night. This will be the only time set aside in the Dining Hall for this. If you plan on BST'ing during other times, please keep your items in your cabins and work that out privately.
Toddler activities - we will plan to have toddler activities throughout the weekend.
There will be supervised activity blocks in 2 hour periods. You will be able to do whatever sounds fun for your family. The agenda will be sent out via email prior to the event so that you can plan your stay. Some activities do have longer lines, but with the added day, you should be able to do all of the activities on your wish list.

INSECTS AND CRITTERS
This is camp, so you may see something not listed here, but the director has given us the following information.
Please plan on bringing your own insect repellant. I will have a few options there, but if you need something specific, please plan for that. Depending on Black Fly season and mosquito season, you will absolutely need to bring some kind of bug repellant. Please also bring sunscreen, etc.
Black bears are extremely rare, they have not seen them at camp.
Snakes are also rare - they have garter snakes -they have seen 2 in 19 years. So it is possible you may see one.
You may see things like chipmunks, deer, etc
FIRST AID IS PROVIDED BY CAMP MANITOU. THERE IS NOT A DOCTOR AVAILABLE ON SITE. THIS IS BASIC FIRST AID FROM A CAMP NURSE. PLEASE PLAN ON TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE EVENT SHOULD YOU NEED TO DRIVE TO A HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCY CARE. YOU CAN STORE MEDICINE EITHER WITH THE NURSE OR ASK FOR A PRIVATE FRIDGE (THERE ARE LIMITED NUMBERS OF THESE & THEY WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM MOST IN THE ORDER CAMP TICKETS ARE PAID IN FULL).
